road to the sea aka on the way to school

Today I bring with me some pictures of the typical morning's ride from Jinqiao, Pudong down to San Jia Gang. It's a trip that leads from one of the biggest, most upscale hubs of expat life, down through a stretch of Shanghai's easternmost outskirts, filled with factories, concrete suburbs and tile villages, and suddenly, inexplicably, through the guarded gates of a private, international school. The whole thing boggles the mind, really.

night over shanghai

Hello all,
I suppose this is it, the first post of my humble little blog, dedicated to giving the world a glimpse of this city, Shanghai, and giving me a place to put all the pictures I've amounted over the last several months. Later on, I hope to include some deeper, more intelligent commentary with my pictures, maybe some heart-felt discussion on social issues or an erudite debate regarding the economic divide, but for now, it's late and I tire, so you'll have to bear with my inane little comments. :)

So here I bring some pictures from a typical walk down my street late one humid Shanghai night.
